What is an 0800 number?
0800 “freephone” numbers are free to the caller no matter where in the UK the caller is calling from.
Do I need new telephone equipment installed?
No. the changes made are all at the exchange level and is independent of any equipment you have in your workplace.
However if your existing equipment allows, you may wish to change your outgoing number presentation (i.e. your caller id) to your new 0800 number.
How do they work?

0800 numbers transparent to your current telephone service provider. 0800 numbers are basically mapped to your current local telephone number. When a client calls your 0800 number, their call is simply redirected to your office, without any delay in call.

Do we have to change our existing telephone provider?
No you don’t need to change your telephone provider. Your new 0800 number (toll free) number will be directed to your existing number. Your current telephone service provider will neither know or care if you number has been changed to a toll free number.

Will our old numbers still work?
You will still be able to use your current number. So you can slow move from your old number to your new 0800 number.
What if we move offices or change our telephone provider?
If you move or for any reason change your actual phone number, 0800 number you have chosen is simply redirected to the new number.

Can we use an 0800 number for our fax machine?
Sure you can. However it is preferred and advised that you should use 0870 numbers to put on your fax machine.
