Racing Pointers
1. Avoid races with 3 or more debutantes. Breeding, market support and trainer form can act as an indicator but you are taking an uninformed guess if betting on these type of races.
2. Avoid races where a number of horses are returning after a long absence. Horses often need a run to establish their sharpness and a progression or decline in a horses ability is pure guesswork. Bet on what you KNOW to be true and try not to speculate.
3. Don't blindly follow the market when making your horse choice and try not to latch on to market movers. This is fraught with danger as whispers are often innaccurate and unfounded. Equally be cautious if your horse choice is very weak in the betting as this could indicate something you have overlooked so double check your findings.
4. Avoid 5f and 6f sprints with a large number of runners and be careful if taking a very short price. Horses are often denied race room and the result is often not a true indication of the form. Bumping and shoving can affect a horses chances and there are numerous hard luck stories in races of this type.
5. Very small fields with 3-5 runners often provide a very short priced favourite but these races can become very tactical and there is often a lack of true pace throughout the race. This can result in a sprint finish and distort the expected outcome so be cautious if electing to bet on a race of this type.
